Mainstream Tackle and Outdoors was supposed to be the retirement hobby for its owner, Matthew Elliott, but after 15 years in the construction industry, he decided to put down the hammer and trade it in for a fishing pole. We started out in a small building in Plainwell, Michigan and only sold fishing bait and tackle. The company then expanded to another location in Galesburg, Michigan to included kayak sales. We decided to combine the two shops into one and moved the bait and tackle sales to the Galesburg location, where we currently operate.
Mainstream Tackle and Outdoors strives to be your one stop shop for all things fishing related. Our staff has years of first hand fishing knowledge to help you find that perfect bait. We also specialize in kayak sales and rentals. If you are interested in learning more about kayak fishing or just recreational kayaking, come in to the shop and chat with our staff. All of our staff participate in kayak fishing tournaments during the season and the shop even sponsors its own bass leagues.
We are also looking into expanding the business with a new riverfront location coming soon. The new location is located right on the Kalamazoo River, next to Time Out Lounge. Stayed tuned to the site or our Facebook page for construction updates.
